How to play Alias

Alias is a team word-explaining game. One player describes a word without saying it or close word forms while teammates try to guess as many as possible before time runs out.

Rules and game flow

Split into teams, choose the word count and round duration. Pocketon can raise difficulty dynamically after strong streaks and in later rounds.

  1. Start a round and hand the phone to the explainer.
  2. Describe the word with meanings, associations and examples.
  3. Mark correct guesses and skips.
  4. When time ends, pass the turn to the next team.
  5. The team with the best final score wins.

Tips

  • Do not use parts of the target word.
  • Start with the category or purpose of the thing.
  • Skip quickly instead of losing the whole round on one word.
