How to play Danetki

Danetki are short mystery situations. The host knows the solution while everyone else reconstructs the hidden story using questions that can be answered with yes, no or irrelevant.

Rules and game flow

Choose a mystery. One person becomes the host and reads the solution privately.

  1. The host reads the mystery setup aloud.
  2. Players ask clarifying yes-or-no questions.
  3. The host answers only yes, no or irrelevant.
  4. The group gradually reconstructs the hidden story.
  5. Reveal the full solution when solved, then move to another mystery.

Tips

  • Start broad: who, where, when and why.
  • Test each theory with short focused questions.
  • The host should avoid giving clues through tone or extra details.
